Homemade hummus is almost always better than bought hummus and this is a super easy recipe. Subbing chickpeas for butter beans was a great decision last time I made it, would defo recommend. :)
Ingredients:
1/4 cup tahini
juice of a lemon - roughly 1/4 cup
1-2 tbsp water
3 tbsp olive oil
2 large/3 small garlic cloves
1 tsp ground cumin
1 can chickpeas/butter beans
salt and pepper to taste
Method:
1. First, blend the tahini and lemon juice with a splash of water until thick, smooth and creamy. It should lighten to a white colour.
2. Add the olive oil, garlic and cumin, then blend again.
3. Once smooth, add the beans and blend, once again, until smooth.
4. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
If you want this to look fancy, serve it with a drizzle of olive oil, some paprika and coarse salt.
